I have been using TB and it's predecessor Eudora for years without any issues. The last few months I have encountered it being very slow, and generally 'not responding' while clicking on something before it has finished thinking. At this point I will sometimes get an error message "chrome://messenger/content/mailWindow.js:180", saying the script has stopped working. I click on continue and it resumes.

After reading the various posts on the subject I have, at various times done 1) re-indexed 2) done a clean install 3) disabled add-ons 4) run in safe mode. Nothing seems to improve things. typical symptoms are: A. Downloading e-mails seems to take the normal time, but displaying them in the inbox can take one minute or more (used to be instantaneous) Clicking in the interim produces the 'not responding' message. B. Sending messages seems normal C. selecting a mail in the inbox, or trying to move or delete one takes one minute or more. Clicking in the interim produces the 'not responding' message D. generally any action with the mouse incurs this long delay accompanied by 'not responding'.

I am using Windows Vista, McAfee is installed but disabling doesn't make a difference.

To:Christ 1 Thanks a bunch. That seems to have done the trick.
